Events & Divisions
TSDL guarantees four debate formats at every tournament: Cross-Examination, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Congressional Debate. A program can count on all four being there, every time. Beyond that guarantee, select tournaments carry individual speech events, but debate is the league's core. New for 2026-27, we are adding middle school divisions in Cross-Examination, Public Forum, and Congress.
Evidence-intensive two-on-two policy debate. Divisions: Open, Novice, Middle School.
One-on-one values and framework debate. Divisions: Open, Novice.
Partner debate on current events. Divisions: Open, Novice, Middle School.
Legislative debate in a simulated chamber. Divisions: Open, Middle School.
The Championship is hosted at top venues in New York City, with both in-person and, where appropriate, virtual rounds.

The Flagship Event
The Championship is the league's marquee event, the strongest entries in the region competing across all four formats over a single weekend. It is the season's destination tournament and the one every program circles on the calendar.
